SLAS New Year Celebration 2025 Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions

Name of the event: Sinhala & Hindu New Year | Sri Lankan New Year Celebration - Glasgow, 2025

📅 Date: Saturday 19th April 2025, from 08:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
📍 Venue: Netherton Community Centre, 358 Netherton Road, Glasgow, G13 1AX

By attending this event, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

  1. General Participation
  • This is a family-friendly, community-led celebration open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
  • All participants are expected to always treat others with courtesy and respect.
  • Violent, aggressive, or abusive behaviour towards organisers, volunteers, or fellow attendees will not be tolerated. Individuals behaving in this manner will be asked to leave the premises and may be reported to the relevant authorities.
  • Any malicious damage or vandalism to property or equipment will be reported to the authorities, and SLAS reserves the right to pursue legal action to recover damages.
  • Parents or guardians must always supervise children during the event.
  • Please be mindful that the event venue is shared with members of the general public. All attendees are expected to show respect and consideration towards others using the venue facilities.
  • To maintain a family-friendly and respectful environment, smoking and the consumption of alcohol are not permitted at any point during the event or within the venue premises. We kindly ask all attendees to support this policy in the interest of community wellbeing and inclusivity.
  1. Photography and Videography Consent
  • Photos and videos will be taken throughout the event to capture and promote the celebration.
  • By attending, you consent to SLAS (Sri Lankan Association in Scotland) using images and recordings of you or your children in promotional materials, including on social media, websites, and future event marketing.
  • If you prefer not to be photographed or recorded, please speak to a member of the organising team when you arrive.
  1. Donations and Ticketing
  • Donations collected before or during the event, including raffle ticket sales, will be used solely to cover event-related expenses such as venue hire, refreshments, entertainment, and materials.
  • All donations and ticket purchases including raffle ticket sales are voluntary and non-refundable, regardless of attendance or participation.
  • A valid ticket issued via Eventbrite must be presented upon entry to the event.
  • Tickets are non-transferable. If requested by the organisers, attendees must be able to present valid identification to verify their booking.
  1. Health and Safety
  • SLAS is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees.
  • The venue complies with current health and safety regulations. Please follow all posted signage and the instructions of venue staff or organisers.
  • In case of an emergency, please follow guidance provided by the venue staff, organisers or emergency service personnel.
  • First-aid support will be available on-site. Please report any concerns to event organisers or venue staff.
  • Participation in games, competitions, and other activities is voluntary and at your own risk. SLAS will not be held liable for accidental injuries sustained during these activities.
  • It is the responsibility of each attendee to inquire about any potential allergens or food intolerances before consuming food or drink offered at the event. If in doubt, please speak to an organiser or the caterer before making a selection.
  1. Liability
  • Attendees are responsible for their personal belongings and safety.
  • SLAS and its organisers accept no liability for loss, theft, damage to property, or personal injury unless caused by proven negligence.
  1. Accessibility and Inclusion
  • The event venue is wheelchair accessible and inclusive.
  • If you have specific accessibility requirements, please let us know in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements.
  1. Event Changes or Cancellation
  • SLAS reserves the right to make adjustments to the programme, timing, or location due to weather conditions, venue issues, or other unforeseen circumstances.
  • Any changes or cancellations will be communicated through SLAS social media channels and other appropriate communication methods.
  • SLAS also reserves the right to request confirmation of attendance from individuals in advance of the event to support event planning, capacity management, and health and safety considerations.
  1. Data Protection and Privacy
  • Any personal information collected for the purpose of this event (e.g., registration details, contact information) will be handled in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Your information will only be used for essential event administration and communication unless you have given express consent for further contact.
