Dhamma School and Sinhala Language Classes

Dear Devotees,

I am delighted to inform you the resumption of Dhamma School and Sinhala Language classes at the Vihara from second week of September 2015.

There are number of changes introduced after carefully considering some of your suggestions and proposals. Therefore, I believe you would take the benefit of this programme to give the opportunity to your children to learn Buddha Dhamma and Sinhala Language.

The proposal is to have the programme on Saturday and Sunday, once a month. It will be the 2nd Saturday and 3rd Sunday of each month. We will give the option to the parents to select whether it will be a Saturday or a Sunday best suitable for them and to attend in one day. Parents are requested to make sure that their children will attend in the choosen day on a regular basis. Occasionally if you are unable to attend the Session One in the morning, you are welcome to join the Session Two on such days but with prior notice.

An application form to be filled per child and submitted to the Vihara. This can be requested from Vihara, which will be sent to you electronically. Completed application forms to be submitted to the Vihara as soon as possible via post or by hand. On acceptance of the application forms we will inform you further details of the conduct of the classes.

Also, please indicate your day of choice (either Saturday or Sunday).

Please note: Once you have opt in to a day of your choice, it is your responsibility to make sure that your children attend both sessions regularly.

Click here to download the 'Enrolment Form'.

Schedule of each day will be in two sessions as detailed in the form.

All parents are encouraged to bring one dish of their choice for Buddha Puja/Dana/Lunch. When you cook it get the support from your children and tell them that they are going to offer it to the Buddha Puja and  monks. Tell them about how you did it  as a child with your parents. When they are at the Vihara allow them to serve (please don't highlight even if they make a mistake but teach them later on how to do it properly).

Also, it is your responsibility and duty to teach Sinhala Language to your children if you wish to do so. What we could do is only to assist you doing that and provide guidance to your children. Therefore, may I remind you to speak to your children in Sinhala Language at all time possible as they will get only that chance to learn and speak in Sinhala language.

If there are significantly different age groups, we will consider having 2 separate classes for 'Session Two' therefore the content will be catered for each age group.

Other than your own children if you know anyone else who's having children and who would like to participate in this monthly programme, please pass this message on to them.

In the meantime please contact me via email should you have any questions or queries.

Thanking you.

With Metta

Venerable K Sri Rewatha Thero.
